Tips for Planning something Special with your Spouse

It doesn’t matter if you have a few days off or if the weekend is fast approaching, spending time with your spouse is important. When you have a family or a busy life, it’s hard to stop and do something by yourselves, but your marriage will suffer if you don’t find a way to make it happen.

Whether you live in a small or large your community, you can find things to do together. Here are a few tips to help you get started.

* Take a walk together
* Eat dinner without the kids
* Find a babysitter for the kids or send them to a friends house
* Go shopping together
* Spend the weekend at a hotel out of town
* Plan a spa day together
* Get a massage together
* Take a drive to the country together
* Go camping together
* Go ice-skating together

When you’re trying to come up with things to do you need to consider what you enjoy doing. Do you have a hobby or sport that you like to do? Maybe you have wanted to learn how to do something; can it be done together? It doesn’t matter what you choose to do, when you do it together you’ll be able to work on your marriage and you’ll begin to see the difference.

The main thing to remember is how important being together and alone is for your marriage. When we’re constantly doing for our friends, family, or for work we forget about spending time together and that can cause more damage to your marriage than you may think.

When you’re with your spouse you have a chance to talk and not worry about the little ears and you can be yourselves. It’s nice to get a way from the hustle and bustle of life in general and when you use one or more of these suggestions you’ll be able to make it happen.

You’ll feel refreshed and the added love you’ll have for each other will be wonderful. You’ll understand why it’s important to do these types of things regularly and you’re sure to find a way to make it happen more often.

3 Suggestions for a Surprise Lunch with your Spouse

When you’re a part during the day, finding time together can be difficult. One of the perfect solutions to this problem is to take your spouse a surprise lunch. This doesn’t have to be anything fancy because the surprise will mean the most.

There are several ways you can do this surprise lunch, but you’ll need to remember the time factor when you’re making the plans. You don’t want to be late getting back or have your spouse say they can’t do it because it will take too long, so make sure you plan accordingly.

One thing to remember is you can go out to a restaurant at any time for a meal. What you want to plan is something where the two of you can literally be alone together; you won’t get that in a restaurant setting.

The first suggestion will be weather permitting, but it’s a fun one anyway. If you have a park near by have a picnic lunch. You can do cold sandwiches, macaroni salad, potato chips, and ice-tea. Those items are perfect and if your spouse is a little late getting out for lunch it won’t hurt anything.

If you have a river or lake near by and there are picnic benches, this would be another great idea. You probably won’t have enough time to cook your food so you’ll want to make something similar to a picnic lunch or you could purchase sub sandwiches and a bag of chips to take with you. Read More…

Evenings are for Couples

Spending time together in the evenings is important when you’re away from each other all day. You need this time to relax and be with each other. While this may be hard to do if you have children in extra curricular activities, it’s still needed, so it’s important to try and make time each day for it.

This time together can be spent lying on the couch watching television or sitting at the table talking about your day and what you have planned for the week. It doesn’t matter what you do as long as you spend time together.

Spend Time together doing Yard Work

After a long and cold winter it’s nice to get outside. When you have yard work to do, the best way to handle it is to do it together. Not only will you get it done quicker, but it will give you a chance to be together.

Spending time together like this will give you the chance to work together to get your yard looking nice and you’ll have the ability to talk at the same time. When you’re busy with work or the family this time together can be short, so you must take advantage of it while you can.

So in the next few weeks when you’re planning your yard work, do it together. Take the time to sit down and work out a plan that is workable for both of you. You’ll find the time you spend together will be enjoyable and you’ll grow closer together.

Is Time Away from the Children Important?

Having children is a wonderful thing. It’s great to watch them grow up and it’s exciting to see them change. One problem you may find comes up when you have children is finding time to do things with your spouse.

I don’t know if you’re like us, but our boys are busy with sports all the time. Our oldest son is in football and then our youngest is in basketball and track. So we seem to be on the go from the time school starts until the time it gets out. That’s a long time to go without having date night or time alone.

The past few years have been a lot better for us, but it didn’t used to be that way. When our boys were too little to stay on their own it was a struggle to find time for ourselves. If you find yourself in this situation you need to get out of it. You need to find a sitter and go out. You should do this on a monthly basis or more if you can make it happen.

It’s important to find time to be alone together. It gives you the ability to show each other you care and you have the ability to get away from the hectic schedule you encounter when you’re always on the run with the kids.

Tips for Avoiding Financial Arguments

Being married is not an easy task. One day things can be going perfectly and the next you could be arguing about something. Things can change very quickly depending on the situation you’re in and what you have going on.

One thing that seems to cause a lot of problems in a marriage happens to be money. If you’ve found you argue with your spouse about the lack of money or how you should spend your money, you’re not the only one. This is common and happens to more people then you may think.

Money is not something you can remove from the situation, so it’s something you must deal with on a regular basis. When you communicate with each other you’ll be able to get through almost anything. You need to talk through any problems and concerns and it’s also important to handle the bills together so you both know what’s going on. When there are no surprises things will be better.

A large number of arguments between married couples are caused by the finances. It’s hard to handle money when you don’t have enough of it to get you through the month. It’s also hard when you don’t agree on how you use your money. This is why it’s important to communicate with each other know matter how bad or good your finances may be.

Making it up to your Spouse

Promising your spouse something is a good way to show them you’re series about what you plan to do and that it will happen, but what do you do if you find yourself in a situation where you have to go back on your word? I suppose it depends on the situation as to how you’ll handle it.

I have found myself in this exact situation recently and the cause of it was beyond my control. We were planning on going to a professional football game, but my computer crashed and I was not able to pay for it and the trip at the same time. Since my computer is the way I make money, it was a no brainer. We would have to spend the money on the computer.

I have thought about taking him to the next professional football game when his team plays the team close to us, but I found out they won’t play them again for the rest of the season, so that’s not an option. With that said, my options are to either save the money and pay to go to their home town or wait until next season to go.

Now the first option would be great since it’s been a dream of his to go and watch them play in their home stadium, but that would be really pricy and I’m not sure how long it would take to save enough money for airfare, car rental, meals, hotel, and tickets. That won’t stop me from checking into it though.

The other option is one that may not work, but you could take him on another trip that wouldn’t cost that much, but something you can still afford to do. This may be staying at a local hotel, going camping in the mountains or the lake, or another option is to stay home and make the best of it.

If you find yourself in this situation with your spouse, do your best to make sure he/she understand you didn’t do this on purpose and that you will do what you can to make it up to him/her. Then use these tips to make the best of the situation and to find a way to make it up to him/her.

It’s the Simplest Things…

Sometimes it’s the simplest things in life that mean the most to those that are important in our lives. This is true of your spouse and it’s something you should do each and every day. When you do you’ll work on your marriage every day and that’s important when you’re trying to make it work.

These simply little things can be something little or something much bigger that takes planning and dedication on your part. No matter what they are you need to work it and make it happen. When you do this your spouse will see you really do care and that will make all the difference in the world.

Come up with a list of things your spouse likes and enjoys and then work through that list. You can keep this list a secret or you can share it. When you do this you’ll have fun working through it and you’ll be excited as you cross things off of the list as you complete them.

Do you Work on Your Marriage Everyday?

This is not something most couples think about, but when they do, they’re surprised when they realize most days they don’t work on their marriage. It’s not easy to do at times, but it’s a must if you want it to work and be successful.

Marriage is not as easy as most single people seem to think it is. It takes a lot of hard work and both people involved must work at it each and every day. You must spend time together and you must spend time a part in order for it to have success.

You must also realize you will have arguments, but that happens. It’s nothing to worry about as you will get through it. The best thing to do during these times is to work through it together. Don’t drag it on and on and on. Say what you have to say and move on. Whatever you do, don’t drill on the argument at hand, just let it go.

To work on your marriage you need to do something for each other everyday. These things don’t have to be anything spectacular or expensive. Think about what your spouse enjoys and likes to have happen and do those things. For example, you can give your spouse a back rub each morning or send a good morning email when they get to work.

One of the most important things to remember is your spouse will love it when you do something for them and when you do it everyday it will make your marriage even stronger. What you do can take a minute or two to complete, but the time you spend on it will be worth it when you see that smile on your spouses face. When you’ve made their day it will be worth it.

Spending time with your spouse is important if you want to keep your marriage alive and together. The smallest of things will make all the difference in the world, but they won’t work if you don’t do them. Take the time each day to do something special for your spouse; when you do your marriage will thank you for it.
